About this location
Sint-Lievensmonstertoren, is also called ''The Thick Tower''.
The tower dominates the city silhouette of Zierikzee. In 1454, construction began on the tower, which was built freestanding next to the accompanying Gothic church, which unfortunately burned down in 1832. The tower should have reached a height of about 130 metres, but construction was stopped after the town suffered setbacks.
Admission to the tower is free, but if you want to enjoy a beautiful view over the city, the Zeelandbrug or Oosterschelde, the tower can be climbed for only € 4.00 for adults and € 2.50 for children.
With the Museum Pass you get a 50% discount on your entrance ticket.
* Please note that there is no lift in the tower.
The host is tower keeper Hans Baris. He will tell you the story of this Sint Lieven tower.
