The Maarstraatplein in the centre of Zierikzee will be renovated in 2013. It used to be a parking lot. Old buildings in the Maarstraat were demolished and replaced by shops and apartments. The wall on the long side of the square contains murals. A small Montmartre is regularly held on the square in the summer, intended for local artists and creative people. or thinkers who come to sit quietly to listen to the murmur of the frog fountain.
