About this location
Slot Haamstede is the name for a thirteenth-century castle; the associated forest the aptly named 'Slotbos'. At this location, masonry remains from the Roman period have been found.
At the end of the winter snowdrops, hyacinths and daffodils bloom in the Slotbos. In spring the bright yellow spearmint is in bloom. More than 30 different birds breed in the forest, including the golden oriole and the tawny owl.
