Eastern Scheldt Storm Surge Barrier -Oosterscheldekering. This is without doubt the most impressive storm surge barrier in the Netherlands. It’s a colossal 9 kilometres long and constructed out of 65 gigantic concrete pillars. The barriers are closed during storms, to protect against flooding.
