About this location
Molen De Hoop is a corn mill dating from 1736 at the Oudelandsepoort in Tholen. It is a round stone scaffolding mill with a flight of 23.60 meters. The mill stands on the waterfront of the old city walls on a footpath.
In 1806 the town sold the mill to Arij de Hond and Johannis Bakker. After that the mill had many owners until it was sold back to the municipality. The mill was inhabited until 1901. The many windows in the lower part still point to this. Until 1948 the mill was commercially milled. Remarkable is the ten-sided scaffolding.
The mill can be visited every Saturday between 13:00 and 17:00 hours. Furthermore, the mill De Hoop can be visited when the mill is running and by appointment.
