MTB Route Sluis

This 41.5 km mtb-route traverses off-road terrain nearly half the time and passes through Sluis, Aardenburg and Belgian Middelburg. Nowadays, Zeeland-Flanders is kept safe by the dikes, quite different from dangerous eras in the past. The age-old battle with the sea, fought by the Zeeuws-Flemish people, is still visible through many a creek in the area. The water was not merely a chilling enemy, however: it would often prove to be an ally in keeping out unwanted invaders.
