Exploring Koudekerke and around

Koudekerke and its surroundings are perfect for those who like hiking and cycling. Many trails snake their way through the polders and rural backwaters of Walcheren from Koudekerke. Along the way, you will find several country estates, including Ter Hooge and Huis der Boede. Surviving sections of the Atlantikwall, a line of fortifications built along the coast by the Germans in the Second World War can also be visited. Along this trail you will come across a number of wartime bunkers in Walcheren.

Eating and drinking in Koudekerke

Koudekerke has few rivals when it comes to culinary fare. For example, the village has not just one, but two Michelin green-star restaurants: Hof aan Zee and Morille. The green star is awarded to restaurants and chefs who hold ethics and the environment in high esteem. Amongst other things, this means that they use local produce and seasonal ingredients. A little further on, close to Huis de Boede, is Wijndomein De Boe. This vineyard has no fewer than 27,000 vines planted on extensive acres stretching across the green landscape.
